Avalanche Forecast

The CAIC Issues avalanche forecasts each day by 4:30PM. You should check the avalanche forecast when you are planning your trip and again before you head out for the day. Forecasts are updated anytime there are significant changes in conditions.

Weather Forecast

The CAIC issues weather forecasts for 21 locations across Colorado twice a day by 6:00AM and by 1:00PM.

The CAIC runs the WRF weather model across Colorado.

Model Forecasts

The CAIC runs two instances of the WRF weather models over the Colorado mountains. The models initialize four times a day at midnight, 6:00AM, noon, and at 6:00PM Greenwich Mean Time (GMT). We also display the NOAA's NAM and GFS model runs.

Model Point Forecasts

The CAIC displays point weather forecasts derived from the WRF, NAM, and GFS weather models at predetermined points across the mountains of Colorado.

Forecast Recordings

You can listen to 60 second summaries of current avalanche conditions for the Northern, Central, and Southern Regions recorded daily.
